Alert Level 2 to open job opportunities for non-essential sector workers

By Pearl Gumapos

Employer’s Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) President Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr. on Monday (Nov. 8) said “tens of thousands” of non-essential sector workers are expected to return to work under Alert Level 2.

“Malaking bagay iyan na binubuksan na natin ang ekonomiya,” he said during the Laging Handa public briefing.

Meanwhile, Department of Trade and Industry Sec. Ramon Lopez said the shift to Alert Level 2 is significant in the opening of the economy.

“Ito ay isang senyales na papaigi muli ang ating ekonomiya. Nakita natin ito dahil sa pagbaba na rin ng mga risk factors that we saw, especially in Metro Manila,” Lopez said during a Malacañang public briefing.

“Napaka importante talagang as early as possible maibalik ang trabaho dahil ito iyong matagal na nating inaasam.”

Lopez also said minimum health protocols must be observed with eased restrictions.

“Risks are lower kaya nagbaba tayo ng alert level para nga maging masigla ulit ang mga negosyo.” – bny
