Alleged Daulah Islamiyah member nabbed in QC

A suspected member of the terrorist group Daulah Islamiya was arrested in North Fairview, Quezon City in the National Capital Region (NCR) over the weekend.

The suspect was identified as Kevin Madrinan, also known as Ibrahim Abdullah Madrinan who is believed to be the liaison officer of Daulah Islamiyah in Luzon.

Madrinan was presented on Monday morning at the Camp Crame by PNP Chief PGen. Camilo Cascolan.

Cascolan disclosed that Madrinan is a member of the group of Mundi Sawadjaan who is believed to be the mastermind of the Jolo, Sulu bombing last month.

The national police is now investigating if Madrinan has accomplices in the NCR and if they have activities in Metro Manila.

“Ang tinitingnan natin ‘yung mga recruitment activities niya na ginagawa rito sa Manila. ‘Yung mga nire-recruit niya, nagbabalik-Islam, pinapadala lahat ‘yan sa Mindanao for exposure on said activities doon mismo sa Mindanao (We are looking into his recruitment activities in Manila. His recruits all revert to Islam and are sent to Mindanao for exposure on said activities),” Cascolan stated.

The police has assured that there is no cause for concern on the matter but encouraged the public to be vigilant. – Report from Bea Bernardo
