While the implementation of the Service Contracting Program (SCP)  comes to a halt, the government will continue to double down on its other major initiative to help transportation sector workers cope with volatile oil prices.

Through the P10/liter Fuel Subsidy Program (FSP), eligible public utility jeepney and UV Express drivers are provided with up to ₱1,500 in fuel savings per vehicle per week for three months, but with a ceiling of 150 liters per week.

To make life easier for them, the Department of Energy (DOE) expanded the scope of the FSP by onboarding all fuel stations across the country, ensuring that these PUV drivers have constant access to discounted diesel as they make daily roundtrips ferrying passengers to and from their destinations.

As of press time, at least 938 stations are now fully operational—with 616 stations in Luzon, 172 in Visayas, and 150 in Mindanao covering major transport corridors nationwide.

Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said in a statement, “Every driver who depends on the road to earn a living deserves a fuel station nearby that can serve them under this program. Under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., we are working hard to make sure that happens.”

Participating fuel stations are reminded to comply with all operational, technical, and reporting requirements of the program. Those who fail to comply may face suspension or cancellation of their Certificate of Compliance.

This is part of the government’s targeted response to global oil market volatility, following the declaration of a State of National Energy Emergency under Executive Order No. 110.
