Andanar donates PPE to Caraga Regional Hospital

PCOO PR

MANILA – Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar has responded to the call of some medical workers in the Caraga Regional Hospital (CRH) for additional supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other essential needs for them to continue the fight against the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The medical workers sought help through the Bisaya Gyud Facebook page last January to augment their supply for PPE, stressing the risk they are under while looking after COVID-19 patients.

Irelyn Sara-Remolado, a registered Medical Technologist assigned at the Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases Ward of the Caraga Regional Hospital in Surigao City, requested this through a message in the social media page.

Remolado said that they were anxious, fearing for their health and those family members who were exposed to them.

In his recent visit to Caraga, Secretary Andanar turned over 50 sets of PPE and other medical supplies including surgical gloves and face masks to Remolado on behalf of Chief Medical Technologist Elry P. Borja and the rest of the medical frontliners of the said regional hospital.

“This is our commitment to provide aid to our Bisaya kababayans during this pandemic. And we will continue to link more Filipinos to the programs of the government through Bisaya Gyud and other platforms that we have,” the PCOO Chief said.

The CRH is a Level 2, state-run hospital in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte and is one of the two COVID-19 referral hospitals in Caraga that accommodates confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Bisaya Gyud, a weekly public service program hosted by Secretary Andanar, is aired on RMN radio stations every Saturday, 4:30 – 5:00 PM, and streamed live on the Bisaya Gyud Facebook page.

The program was launched in January 2020 with the aim of providing assistance to underprivileged Bisaya and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) by linking them to concerned government agencies to address their concerns.
