Antique elderly receive DSWD’s unconditional cash aid

SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Department of Social Welfare and Development is now releasing the PHP2,400 cash assistance to the elderly qualified for the unconditional cash transfer (UCT).

In an interview on Monday, Melrose Amaran, of the DSWD office in Antique, said there are senior citizens from Culasi town, who received their PHP2,400 financial assistance during the payout through the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) over the weekend.

“We have a target of 2,058 beneficiaries in Culasi,” she said.

On Monday, the payout was done in Tibiao town with 1,494 seniors as beneficiaries.

“All over the province we have a total target of 24,998 beneficiaries,”she said.

Amaran said the UCT in the amount of PHP2,400, or PHP200 per month, is an assistance to 64 years old and above senior citizens in the province, who have been identified through the National Household Targeting System (NHTS) – an instrument used to identify the poorest of the poor elderly.

She said Antique is the second province in Western Visayas to have the payout after Iloilo.

She added that senior beneficiaries from other towns will also receive their UCT based on the schedule of the LBP. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
