Antique police to be model for drug clearing drive

SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique – – The Antique Provincial Police Office (APPO) is responding to challenge of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) to become a model for the sectoral drug clearing campaign by subjecting its personnel to a random drug test.

In an interview Friday, APPO Director Supt. Norby Escobar said that the sectoral drug clearing seeks to further strengthen the illegal drugs campaign by reaching out to sectoral groups to ensure their members are drug-free and that they have a drug-free workplace.

“Mechanics for this is being finalized now at the police regional office,” Escobar said.

However, he added that PRO 6 outgoing Director Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, during his visit this week, has challenged the APPO personnel to set as model by subjecting its policemen first to a drug test.

He said that around 600 APPO personnel will be subjected to the random drug test soon.

“We are now requesting test kits from the crime laboratory,” Escobar said.

Meanwhile, Binag during his visit also thanked APPO personnel for ensuring a peaceful and safe synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections last May 14. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
