Araneta, all set against Nontshinga for IBF world title eliminator

The camp of Cebu native boxer Christian “The Bomb” Araneta has assured that the battle against power puncher Sivenathi Nontshinga of South Africa will be heart-stopping.

The two pugilists will rumble for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) light flyweight world title eliminator that will be held at the Boardwalk Hotel in Eastern Cape, South Africa this coming week.

In a PTV Sports interview with Team Araneta, Omega Boxing Gym Head Coach Julius Erving Junco said they are working on his prize fighter’s conditioning before the actual fight.

Despite Araneta’s readiness, his coach and Omega Sports Promotions Vice President Jerome Calatrava see that the campaign is not going to be easy against knockout artist Nontshinga.

IBF light flyweight champion Nontshinga currently holds a clean 9-0 slate, nine by knockout, while Araneta has a 19-1 win-loss record, 15 via knockout.

Whoever wins the match will rise to the status of mandatory title challenger opposite current IBF light flyweight champion Felix Alvarado of Nicaragua.
