Army condemns GenSan blast, vows justice for victims

DAVAO CITY – The Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Division (ID) has condemned Sunday’s explosion at the Vic Bonito Lying-in Clinic along Makar junction in General Santos City at about 11:50 a.m. that left 7 civilians injured.

In a press statement, 10th ID Commander, Major Gen. Noel Clement, assured the public that authorities are investigating the incident to identify the perpetrators.

General Santos City is under the area of responsibility of the 10th ID.

“We closely work together with the PNP (Philippine National Police) and other law enforcement agencies to capture the perpetrators and make them face the bar of justice,” Clement said.

Meanwhile, 10th ID spokesperson, Capt. Jerry Lamosao, said the seven civilians sustained minor injuries in their lower extremities, based on the diagnosis of attending doctors at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Lamosao said the explosion also damaged a tent and one vehicle.

Clement said the explosive ordnance disposal teams of the General Santos City police and Joint Task Force GenSan are still conducting paneling and assessment at the area.

“We appeal to the public to be extra cautious and vigilant and immediately report to the authorities suspicious persons and unattended baggage in crowded places,” he said. (Lilian Mellejor/PNA)
