Army holds COVID-19 pediatric vax drive

The Philippine Army held a two-day pediatric COVID-19 vaccination drive among 5 to 11 year olds at the Army General Hospital (AGH) on July 14 and July 15.

A total of 80 children received their primary dose of COVID-19 vaccines.

According to AGH Commanding Officer Col. Jonna Dalaguit, the vaccination drive will “significantly reduce symptomatic and severe COVID-19 infections among the pediatric population aged 5 to 11 years old.”

“Vaccines are the best preventive medicine to protect children from possible COVID-19 infection,” she said.

She added that children are “also at risk for infection,” and that it should be included in the vaccination program of the government for them to be “protected against COVID-19.”

It is the Philippine Army’s third installment of AGH’s inoculation initiatives for military dependents.

Based on the latest vaccination data of the national government, a total of 71,322,848 individuals have been given their complete primary doses, while 15,592,533 already received booster or additional doses.  – ag
