ASG member nabbed in QC

The joint raid by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines resulted in the arrest of Ibrahim Lambog Mullo, a sub-leader of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City (QC). The PNP said it already had intelligence information that a certain ASG member was identified in the area. The authorities recovered an unlicensed firearm and a bag with a fragmentation grenade from the suspect. They also found out that the person, who was recruited by the ASG through social media, was a worker of the construction firm that does the housing project for army scout rangers. The suspect now faces charges of violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Republic Act No. 9516 (which deals with possession of explosives). Notwithstanding said arrest, the PNP assures the public that Metro Manila is a safe area, and that authorities are on heightened alert status for the region’s security.
