DILASAG, Aurora — This town was placed under state of calamity on Wednesday after suffering heavy damages in agriculture and infrastructure due to the onslaught of Typhoon “Rosita” (Yutu) last week.
The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Dilasag unanimously passed resolution No. 75-2018 for the declaration.
Roy Sahagun, head of the Dilasag Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said placing the town under state of calamity would allow the municipal government to use its 30-percent calamity fund to immediately help residents in the typhoon-affected areas.
“The strong winds and moderate to heavy rains brought by the typhoon destroyed the primary agricultural products and infrastructures in our town,” he noted.
Based on the assessment report, a total of 565 hectares of land planted to rice, 438 hectares of corn and 73.07 hectares of other high value crops were damaged by Rosita with an estimated total value of PHP48,560,200.57.
Damage to fisheries and livestock, on the other hand, reached PHP470,651.93.
Damage to infrastructure in the seven villages of Dicabasan, Dilaguidi, Diagyan, Masagana, Maligaya, Diniog, and Esperanza, was placed at PHP1,700,000.
A total of 650 houses was also affected by the typhoon, of which 620 were partially damaged while 30 others were totally destroyed.
Three fishing vessels were damaged at the height of the typhoon — one totally and two partially.
Sahagun also said that some 3,096 families or 9,543 residents were displaced by “Rosita”.
