Authorities have discovered a suspected temporary hideout of Abu Sayyaf Group Sub-Leader Mundi Sawadjaan in Indanan, Sulu.
Mundi Sawadjaan is identified as the mastermind of the twin bombings in Jolo, Sulu in August that killed 7 people.
Based on the report of the Joint Task Force Sulu, Sawadjaan and his group of more than 40 members, have stayed in the hideout for 3 days where the military has found their personal belongings and consumables.
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Gilbert Gapay believes that it is a good indication that authorities are getting closer to the eventual arrest of Sawadjaan.
The National Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council has conducted a meeting for the purpose of strengthening the AFP and Philippine National Police (PNP) against security threats.
The establishment of an economic program for barangays considered as insurgency free has also been discussed. The public information campaign regarding government programs against insurgency and terrorism will also be strengthened.
Said methods will help encourage the public and even members of terrorist groups to trust the government again.
PNP Chief Police General Camilo Cascolan and AFP Chief of Staff General Gilbert Gapay have both assured that the Jolo shooting incident where 4 military personnel were killed by policemen will not happen again under their leadership. They have insisted that greater intelligence coordination from each side will be executed.
