Authorities seize ₱26M worth of dried marijuana in QC

Authorities seized ₱26 million worth of dried marijuana weighing over 200 kilograms in Quezon City Sunday.

In the buy-bust operation in Balintawak, three suspects, Dianne Cambalicer, Louie Cuerdo, and Angelo Pascual, were arrested. The 3 suspects are now under the custody of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Debold Sinas disclosed that based on gathered information, the contrabands came from the Cordillera Region and may have been brought in through a vegetable delivery as decoy.

The police is also investigating the surge in demand of marijuana in Metro Manila and other nearby provinces. Authorities assumed that the confiscated marijuana would have been an alternative for shabu.

An initial assessment of the situation has already been done based on the suspects’ statements. PGen. Sinas disclosed this is not their last operation on the matter. – Report from Bea Bernardo
