MANILA — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) warned anew the public to refrain from posting personal information on social media, particularly pictures of prized possessions and vehicles.

NBI spokesman Deputy Director Ferdinand Lavin made the reminder in a press conference where a suspect in the theft of a missing person’s car was presented Thursday.

“Again, we remind the public against posting your identity and your car (on social media ) as someone can post and steal it,” Lavin said.

NBI Director Dante A. Gierran identified the suspect as Haliwin W. Borromeo a.k.a. Jal, Drex, a resident of No. 66 ,Selencio St., Barangay Santol, Quezon City.

Borromeo was found to have sold a car, a black Toyota Revo with license plate number NJO-863, used by Honorio W. Pinpin, Jr. who has been missing since August of last year.

He was traced and arrested after the buyer of the missing man’s car, Dennis Tan advertised it for sale.

NBI Task Force on Illegal Drugs (TFAID) chief lawyer Ross Jonathan Galicia urged the public to help in finding the missing man who was a manager in a ready mix concrete business in Taguig City when he was abducted.

“We appeal to the public to help locate him,” Galicia said.

Charges of carnapping has been filed against Borromeo who is presently detained at the NBI detention center pending the result of the forensic investigation into the contents of his mobile phone which was seized during his arrest. (Benjamin Pulta/PNA)
