Bacolod City gets P3.6-M bus donation from transport firm

BACOLOD CITY — The city government here received a PHP3.6-million bus donated by homegrown transport giant Yanson Group of Bus Companies (YGBC).

Mayor Evelio Leonardia led city officials in receiving the 55-seater Hino bus during the turn-over rites held Thursday afternoon at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds.

On behalf of YGBC president and chief executive officer Leo Rey Yanson, business diversification manager Casey Olive Yanson, assistant chief finance officer Jerica Leanne Ramos, and security, fuel, and public relations head Miloy Seva turned over the donation.

Aside from the new bus, the transport firm also endorsed to the city officials a refurbished 66-seater tourism bus.
Both buses were painted red, bearing large photos of MassKara Festival dancers and a tagline, “Smile! You’re in Bacolod.”

Casey Yanson said her family is glad to give back to the city where their business grew.

“I hope that this donation of a 55-seater bus becomes a symbol of the harmonious relationship that we have and I hope that it would be a help to the city and to the community,” she added.
YGBC, considered as the country’s largest land transportation firm, is the mother company of Vallacar Transit Inc., the operator of Ceres Liner.

In response, Leonardia thanked the donors as he underscored his administration’s goal of establishing a harmonious and productive relationship with the private sector.

“This is something that we need for our increasing number of visitors and also for the educational tours of our students,” the mayor said.

Leonardia said an ordinance will be passed to prescribe the bus rental fees. (Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
