The place is adorned with a replica of a space ship emitting artificial snow while synchronized lights and Christmas tunes are being played. Children wearing jackets and bonnets do not seem to mind the cool evening breeze as they enjoy catching snowflakes in an area within the country club lined with Benguet pine trees.
Andrew Pinero, corporate communications manager of the city’s top membership resort, said the Christmas village was conceptualized seven years ago as an added attraction for the locals and tourists who flock in this city to celebrate the holidays.
He said this year, they veered away from the traditional characters which they had in the past like life-sized images of the characters in Frozen, Pokemon and the like.
“It’s more of a light show and snow show combined which we know will achieve a wow effect,” he said.
Thousands of LED lights in different colors, sizes, and shapes have been installed at the venue for the enjoyment of everybody. The lights dance to the tune of 20 different Christmas carols.
“We are doing everything to innovate and provide a different experience to those who have already seen the Christmas village in the past years and those who will come for the first time,” he said.
The venue, located right in front of BCC’s main gate, accepts visitors until January 7, 2018. It is open from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for the visitors to appreciate the lights and the artificial snow, which are not very visible during the day.
Every night, a Nativity play is shown to the public, with the characters in the birth of Jesus played by employees of the club. There will also be nightly entertainment with choirs, bands in the city and fireworks display on weekends.
“From what they have seen in the past, we have improved it and the leveled up by a few notches. We also invited visually impaired performers from the Northern Luzon Association for the Blind (NLAB) to perform on weekends, which is also a chance for them to showcase their talent,” Pinero said.
The torch and lanterns of Saint Louis University, which they show to the public every December, will also be on display at the Christmas village.
Visitors are charged with an entrance fee of PHP120 for adults, PHP50 for children, PHP80 for senior citizens. Persons with disabilities (PWD) and children three years old and below may enter for free. (PNA)
