BCDA contributes P8-B to AFP in first 2 years of Duterte admin

MANILA — The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has contributed PHP8 billion to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the first two years of the Duterte administration.

The amount is 20 percent of the PHP40 billion received by the military since the BCDA’s creation in 1992, according to BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Vivencio Dizon.

“That is very, very significant. Two out of the 25 years of the BCDA, and under the term of President Rodrigo Duterte, 20 percent of the total PHP40 billion. We want that trend to keep on going,” Dizon said in a statement Monday.

Duterte has earlier assured soldiers that modernization of the AFP will be his administration’s focus.

“BCDA is here, it exists to help strengthen our Armed Forces while we build great cities. That’s what really BCDA is all about,” Dizon added. (Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
