BIR confident to meet 2021 tax collection goal

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is targeting ₱2.08 trillion in tax collection for 2021, the agency announced during the National Tax Campaign virtual kick-off.
Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III said the taxes to be collected will be used to fund and support COVID-19 response and economic recovery programs of the government.

Dominguez expressed confidence that they will either achieve or surpass the collection goal for this year.

In 2020, the BIR collected ₱1.94 trillion despite the pandemic. This is more than 15 percent higher than the revised collection target of ₱1.69 trillion.
