Bitso-bitso vendor gives her ‘paninda’ to community pantry

A senior citizen selling the native delicacy “bitso-bitso” in Banago, Bacolod City donated her products to a community pantry on Wednesday (April 21).

In netizen Manny Villaera’s Facebook, Nanay Thelma was selling the local snack when she passed by their community pantry which was on its second day of operations.

“She asked if she can avail too of the pantry goods. I informed her that yes, she can, and must only get what she needs,” Villaera said.

“Without being asked, she got some of her bitso-bitso and started to display it on the table. I informed her it’s not necessary as judging [by] her status, she needs to earn extra money from it,” he added.

The netizen said the kind-hearted senior citizen only took a pack of rice, three eggs, an apple, dried fish, a pack of noodles, and a few leafy vegetables from the pantry.

“She explained that she is selling to have a day’s budget solved, and now that she got it already from the pantry, she is glad to share to others what she has, too,” he narrated.

In a report shared by PTV News, Nanay Thelma gave another set of her bitso-bitso products to the community pantry the following day. -AG/jlo
