BJMP ensures continuous fight vs COVID-19

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) has ensured that it is continuously fighting the spread of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in its jail facilities.

According to recent data, there are 713 active cases among Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) while 74 have recovered. Two patients who had pre-existing medical conditions, died.

The most number of cases is reported at the Cebu City Male Dormitory with 349 active cases.

PDLs are in an isolation facility of the BJMP where they are being given medical attention.

“Currently, we have 6 COVID Isolation Centers, and priority natin ‘yung mga compromised jail facilities natin. Ibig sabihin doon sa mga may nagpositibong kaso. (Currently, we have 6 COVID Isolation Centers, and our priority is the compromised jail facilities where there are positive cases.)” BJMP Spokesperson J/Chief Insp. Xavier Solda cited.

There are 117 BJMP personnel who tested positive for COVID-19 while 51 have recovered. COVID-19 tests are ongoing in the bureau with the help of the Department of Health (DOH) and the local government unit (LGU).

The E-Dalaw will be maintained since physical visits are not yet allowed in the jail facilities.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Correction (BuCor) has 222 PDLs who are positive for COVID-19 where 10 have died and 31 have recovered.
