Blackwater to represent PH in Macau basketball tourney

MANILA — Blackwater Elite will be the Philippines’ representative to the Summer Super 8 tournament.

In a statement by Asia League, the organizer of the event, on Tuesday night, the Elite are among the seven teams named as participants of the tourney slated for July 17-22 in Macau.

Blackwater, however, will have a tough competition as it will be joined by the Chinese clubs Xinjiang, featuring Gilas naturalized player Andray Blatche and former NBA player Zhou Qi, and Guangzhou.

Also offering tough competition are Korean Incheon and Seoul Samsung, led by former Magnolia import and current South Korean naturalized player Ricardo Ratliffe, Japanese club Fukuoka, and Asean Basketball League side Formosa, representing Chinese Taipei.

The last participating team will be announced at a later date.
