Blast near US Embassy in China isolated incident’: MOFA

MANILA — The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has confirmed that an explosion occurred near the United States Embassy in China on Thursday but said the incident is an “isolated case.”

“I would like to say that the incident in Chaoyang District, Tianze Road and Anjialou Road, was an isolated security incident and the Chinese police have dealt with it in a timely and appropriate manner,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said in a press conference on Thursday.

The perpetrator was identified as “Jiang”, a 26-year-old man from Inner Mongolia.

Jiang was injured, but no other casualty from the explosion has been reported by local authorities.

Based on reports, the man set an explosive device made from firecrackers on the intersection of Tianze Road and Anjialou Road in Chaoyang District, where the US Embassy is located. (PNA)
