BOC surpasses May 2022 target collection by P11-B

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has surpassed its May 2022 target collections by P11 billion or by 20.8% for a total actual collection of P68.245 billion, with 15 of 17 collection districts exceeding their aim.

The BOC has already collected P322.472 billion since January, reflecting 47.5% of the 2022 target collection of P679.226 billion.

Citing BOC-Financial Service report, the bureau said collection districts in the Port of San Fernando, Port of Manila, MICP, Ports of Batangas, Legaspi, Iloilo, Cebu, Tacloban, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, Davao, Subic, Clark, Aparril, and Limay surpassed their May targets.

The improved performance of the bureau this year was attributed to improved valuation, intensified collection efforts, measures preventing revenue leakage, and the country’s economic recovery.

The BOC has assured to maintain its border security measures against undervaluation, misdeclaration, technical smuggling, and to collect lawful revenues. Ā (PR)
