Bohol police hauls P1.9-M drugs this month

TAGBILARAN CITY — The Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) reported that it has seized about PHP1.9 million worth of drugs from September 1 to 27.

BPPO Deputy Director for Operations, Supt. Lorenzo Batuan, made the report Thursday afternoon during the monthly meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council at the People’s Mansion.

Batuan said a total of 20 operations were conducted and 192.27 grams of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) were confiscated during the said period.

A total of 33 suspects were arrested and 45 cases were filed in court, he added.

All in all, the BPPO seized PHP14,066,662 worth of suspected drugs from January to September 27 this year.

Meanwhile, Bohol’s crime volume jumped by 6 percent from 484 crimes in July to 514 in August due to a spike in non-index crimes, Batuan said.

He noted that non-index crimes rose to 403 in August from 361 in July.

However, the number of index crimes reported in August declined to 111 from 123 in July.

Non-index crimes are violations of special laws and other less serious criminal offenses, as defined by the Philippine National Police, while index crimes involve crimes against persons and against property. (Dave Albarado/PNA)
