On Friday, April 9, an outreach team of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go conducted a relief activity for the indigent and vulnerable residents of San Fernando City, Pampanga who are struggling in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The team provided meals, vitamin supplements, masks and face shields to a total of 200 beneficiaries at the Heroes Hall. The distribution was carried out in batches to comply with the government-issued health and safety protocols and community quarantine restrictions.
Selected beneficiaries also received new pairs of shoes while some were provided bicycles for their daily commuting needs. Others were given computer tablets so their children can better participate in their classes under the blended learning approach.
In addition to the Senator’s team, representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development separately distributed financial assistance to help ensure beneficiaries can access food and other essential items.
Masaya kami.
In a video message, the Senator expressed his concern and support for the affected residents of San Fernando City. He offered to assist beneficiaries or their family members with health concerns.
Go advised other Kampampangans in need of medical assistance to visit the Malasakit Center at the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital in San Fernando City and Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center in Angeles City.
Furthermore, he recognized the pandemic’s devastating impact on their communities, especially to low-income families and urged everyone to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities.
“Lagi po natin tandaan na ang ating kooperasyon at pakikipagkapwa-tao ay makakapagligtas ng buhay ng mga Pilipino,” he said.
He reminded the public to continue to follow the necessary COVID-19 protocols in order to protect themselves and prevent the virus from spreading in their communities.
The Senator went on to express his gratitude to the local officials for continuing to provide support to the affected sectors and communities despite the risks posed by the pandemic.
During the distribution, a second team of Go carried out a similar activity for hundreds of residents in Angeles City. (PR)
