BSP launched PHP20 coin and new design of PHP5 coin

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) unveiled the new PHP20 coin in response to the short lifespan of the PHP20 bill following its common utility among the public. Like other new generation coins, it is made up of plated steel.

The central bank also introduced the new design of the PHP5 coin. From its former circular shape, the coin now appears in nonagon form.

The coins are gradually disseminated to banks in December 2019. The massive cascading of the money, however, is conducted in the first quarter of next year, 2020.
