BSP warns vs fake money during holidays

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) warned the public against the spread of fake money during the holiday season after several vendors in Gerona, Tarlac have received fake ₱1000 and ₱500 bills.

The BSP advised the public to check the markings of the bills to see if it is embossed such as the “Republika ng Pilipinas,” signature of the President and Governor of the BSP. It added that the water mark, asymmetrical serial number, and the color blue and red of the security fiber must be clear.

Other security features of the money can also be observed such as its concealed value, security thread, and optically variable ink by tilting the bill.
