Bulacan police official facing rape complaint summoned

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — The Internal Affairs Services (IAS) of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office on Friday summoned the relieved police chief of Hagonoy town to get his side on the rape complaint filed against him by a female inmate.

Lawyer Christina Alcantara, Bulacan IAS director, also confirmed that they are now conducting a motu propio investigation on the rape complaint filed against Superintendent Kim Cobre by the mother of an inmate allegedly raped inside the Hagonoy Police Station.

“The mother of the alleged victim personally went to Senior Superintendent Chito Bersaluna, acting Bulacan police director, Thursday to file a complaint against Cobre and formally made the complaint at the women’s and children’s desk of the Bulacan PNP,”  Alcantara said.

Alcantara temporarily withheld the identities of the inmate and her mother.

“Because of the gravity of the accusation, Cobre was relieved by Senior Supt. Bersaluna from his post Thursday as police chief of Hagonoy so that he cannot influence the progress of the investigations being conducted on the complaint filed against him,” she said.

Alcantara added that Cobre has agreed to give his side on the rape complaint filed against him. (PNA)
