Cagayan Valley residents warned of floods, landslide

TUGUEGARAO CITY — The Cagayan Valley Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) has raised a “blue alert” due to the anticipated effects of Typhoon “Gardo”.

Under a “blue alert” status, officials of various government agencies, as well local units of the police and military, must report to their assignments in round-the-clock shifts to prepare for a possible calamity.

Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) Director Dante D. Balao advised residents, especially those in low-lying areas, to take precautionary measures against flash floods and landslide.

The RDRRMC has also alerted the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Councils (PDRRMC) and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Councils (MDRRMC), and ordered them to be on their toes so as to avoid disasters.

As of this posting, the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela and Quirino are experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms while the provinces of Batanes and Nueva Vizcaya have partly cloudy to cloudy  skies  with isolated rain showers, Balao said. (PR/PNA)
