LUCENA CITY, Quezon – The regional finals of the annual inter-grade school quiz show in Calabarzon is set at the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation here on Nov. 12.
Hosted by the Batangas-based Philippine Science High School (PSHS) campus, the activity hopes to showcase the versatility of contestants in answering questions in science and math in varying difficulties.
PSHS Chief of Curriculum and Instruction Division Joni M. Albarico said in PSHS’ letter to Cavite Schools Division Superintendent Cherrylou D. Repia that the regional finals will also help promote the PSHS campus in various public and private elementary school in the region,
The quiz show, entitled “BANGABANG”, was inspired by the Batangueño expression, which means unruly or disordered. It will serve as a major event during the Department of Science and Technology’s Science and Technology (DOST) Week, Albarico said.
The contest was opened to all public and private elementary schools in Region IV-A (Calabarzon), wherein each school is given a 2-team slot of bonafide Grade 5 students plus coach; and the regional finalists are the top 5 teams during the provincial eliminations held on Oct. 27.
The competition is divided into easy, average rounds where the first 2 rounds will be composed of 10 questions each and shall earn them 2 and 3 points per correct answer, respectively, while the difficult round will have 5 questions worth 5 points each.
The teams with the top 3 highest scores shall be declared as winners.
