Calabarzon police retrains 70 scalawag cops

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City – Some 70 police non-commissioned officers across CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon provinces) region were ordered to undergo retraining under the R.E.S.H.A.P.E. or Return to the Effective, Socially, Healthy and Active Person Empowerment Program starting Nov. 20.

The second batch of trainees include one from the police Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB); 11 from regional headquarters; 13 from Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO); seven from Laguna PPO; 13 from Batangas PPO; 13 from Rizal PPO; and 12 from Quezon PPO.

CALABARZON Police Regional Office Director, Chief Supt. Ma. O Ranada Aplasca, said the training participants are those with criminal and administrative cases like grave misconduct, infractions on conduct unbecoming of a police officer, and dishonesty, among others. Included are those who have incurred Absence without Official Leave (AWOL), physical injuries, failure to comply lawful order and even sleeping on duty.

The 30-day training focuses on strengthening and enhancing the participants’ work performance, relationship with God, their families, neighbors, co-workers and the community.

“We are hoping that this will be the last class to undergo this program. But rest assured that we will continue to give focus on cleaning our own ranks from misfits and erring personnel until we fully achieve a God-centered, family-based and service-oriented CALABARZON PNP,” Aplasca said.

The RESHAPE program is part of the serious Internal Cleansing Program of the Police Regional Office-CALABARZON to transform and redirect its personnel.

Subjects during the training include Responsible Parenthood, Leadership Principles, Stress Management, Police Ethics and the PNP Code of Ethical Standards, among others. (Roselle R. Aquino/PNA)
