Cavite guv says Lubigan’s death strikes discordant note

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – Cavite Governor Jesus Crispin Remulla on Tuesday described the killing of Trece Martires City vice-mayor Alexander C. Lubigan a discordant note in the province’s peace and order situation, and vowed to bring justice to the slain official and his family.

On his Facebook account, Remulla said Lubigan was a good husband and father and “a friend and a genuine person who has stood by our side unconditionally”.

“Alex, kung nasaan ka man ngayon, hindi namin kalilimutan ang kabutihan mo. Gaganapan namin ang aming katungkulan na bigyan ng hustiya ang iyong kamatayan (Alex, wherever you are now, we would never forget your goodness. We will perform our job to bring justice to your death),” the governorsaid.

Cavite 6th District Rep. Luis Emmanuel ‘Jon-Jon’ Ferrer IV, whose congressional district covers the cities of General Trias and Trece Martiresm and the towns of Tanza and Amadeo, already put up a reward money of PHP 200,000 on Monday to any informant that could help provide leads for the arrest of Lubigan’s killers.

Lubigan, who would have completed his third and last term as this city’s vice-mayor, and his driver-security Romulo Guilemer were killed by still unidentified gunmen, who peppered the city executive’s black Toyota Hilux pick-up vehicle with bullets around 2:53 p.m. last July 7 along the busy Trece to Indang road, in front of the Korean-Philippines Friendship Hospital.

Meanwhile, Senior Supt. William Segun, the Cavite Provincial Police Director has appealed to the public to contact the police station for any information related to the killing through (0998) 9673346 or (0916) 9860679.

Lubigan has won the city’s vice-mayoral post for three consecutive three-year terms in 2010, 2013 and 2016. Prior to his vice-mayor’s post, Lubigan also won in the local polls as city councilor for three consecutive terms from 2001, 2004 and 2007. (Dennis Abrina/PNA)
