Cavite health workers get P16-M worth of cash perks

INDANG, Cavite — Around PHP 16-million worth of cash incentives were distributed Tuesday to some 2,394 barangay health workers (BHWs) and 328 barangay nutrition scholars (BNS) for the period covering July to December this year.

Governor Jesus Crispin Remulla led the provincial government’s distribution and turnover of checks representing the third and last quarter of this year’s pay to the barangay workers throughout the province.

Of the PHP 16 million, PHP14,364,000 were distributed to the BHWs while PHP 2,053,200 were earmarked for the BNS.

Remulla thanked the barangay workers for “their untiring efforts in realizing the provincial health care program.”

Cavite’s accredited BHWs, who are actively and regularly performing their duties, are entitled to hazard and subsistence allowance under the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of Republic Act 7883 or “An Act Granting Benefits and Incentives to Accredited Barangay Health Workers and for other purposes”.

Although the BNS are also acknowledged for their services, they expressed fulfillment to have served their community as first responders in averting unnecessary child deaths.

They also receive at the most the monthly traveling allowance depending on the financial capability of the funding source.
