Cavite village alderman nabbed for cache of firearms, ammos

NAIC, Cavite – Police arrested a barangay (village) councilor for possession of a cache firearms and ammunition during search warrant operations Thursday in his house in Barangay Palangue Central here.

Naic deputy police chief Police Chief Inspector (PCI) Ernesto Caparas Jr. identified the arrested suspect as Francisco Marjes Mojica, 52 , a Barangay Palangue Central councilor.

Caparas said the search warrant, issued by Executive Judge Agripino G. Morga of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 29 – 32 in San Pablo City, Laguna, was served in an orderly manner as the suspect and his wife turned themselves in as witnessed by Barangay councilor Elenita Gonzales.

The dawn raid resulted in the confiscation of a Norinco M1911 caliber .45 pistol; three magazines for caliber 45 pistol, which were loaded with 24 live ammunitions; a Carbine M1 caliber .30 rifle; four magazines loaded with 60 live ammunitions for caliber 30; color black holster; color brown leather magazine pouch; and color black tactical sling bag.

Police are also investigating the suspect for any involvement in gun-running activities in Cavite even as charges of violation of Reppublic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act are being filed against him before the Office of Cavite Provincial Prosecutor in Imus City .(Rogelio Limpin/PNA)
