MANILA — The head of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines assured that there will be no cover-up on the sexual abuse cases involving the clergy.

“We will do whatever we can to protect minors in the Church. You heard me, no hesitation and cover-up,” said CBCP President Archbishop Romulo Valles, during a mass at the San Pedro Cathedral in Davao City on Friday.

Valles admitted the shameful abuses and vowed to stop these from happening.

He begged for forgiveness saying “with forgiveness the grace to stand up and repair and see to it that such things will not happen in the church”.

The CBCP head was among the close to 200 church leaders from around the world who attended the recent summit on the protection of minors at the Vatican.

Pope Francis has repeatedly apologized over the abuses and committed to confront the perpetrators and restore justice.
