CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Authorities here arrested a total of 674 persons for involvement in illegal drugs from January to November 30 this year.

Senior Supt. Nelson Aganon, Cagayan de Oro Police Office (COCPO) director, on Friday said that of the total figure, 594 were classified as drug pushers and the rest are drug dependents.

Aganon said shabu remains the top illegal drug confiscated by the police.

Of the arrested suspects, 82.5 percent are males, carrying a total volume confiscated is 938.16 grams valued about PHP8 million.

“The barangays on top of illegal drug activities are Carmen–the city’s most populous village, followed by Puerto, and Bugo,” the COCPO chief said.

COCPO spokesman Mardy Hortillosa, meanwhile, said that starting next year, the office will implement “Adopt a Dog” program to train community members in training police dogs and utilized them as “force multipliers.”
