CEB resumes Tuguegarao flights, aids in relief ops

MANILA — Cebu Pacific (CEB) partially resumed operations in Tuguegarao Airport on Tuesday, as it also helped in bringing relief supplies.

“A small aircraft was used, but not just for relief operations since we also had passengers,” CEB spokesperson Charo Lagamon told the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

Tuguegarao Airport was temporarily closed for operations from Saturday to Monday, due to damages brought about by Typhoon Ompong.

“Ompong” made a landfall in Cagayan Saturday morning, and left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the evening.

As of Sunday, Sept. 16, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported that Tuguegarao Airport had damaged ceiling, glass panels, administration bulding, and glass tower. It added that operations were limited to relief operations.

Meanwhile, CEB will mount a recovery flight on Wednesday, Sept. 19, between Manila and Tuguegarao.

“We cannot resume regular operations there yet, since the airport is still being repaired,” Lagamon said. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
