CEBU CITY — The Cebu City Police Office said Monday they now have “persons of interest” in the killing of a Korean national inside a motel in Barangay Mabolo here.

Authorities are also looking at illegal drugs as one of angles in the death of 20-year-old Young Ho Lee, who was killed around 6:20 p.m. Sunday outside his motel room.

City Police Director Senior Supt. Royina Garma said she has ordered the Mabolo Police Station to track down the people responsible for the death of the Korean.

Based on witnesses accounts, four persons riding in tandem aboard two motorcycles left the motel right after the shooting.

Members of the Scene of the Crime Operation also found some methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu,” drug paraphernalia, and a money transfer receipt inside the Korean’s room.

The money transfer receipt reportedly contained the name of a person and an address in Consolacion, Cebu.

When the Mabolo Police coordinated with their counterparts in Consolacion during their follow-up operation, it was discovered that the name on the receipt belongs to a noted drug pusher now residing in neighboring Liloan town.

Investigators said the Korean victim most likely had a big amount of unsettled debt, as he was seen by witnesses kneeling and begging for his life before he was shot several times by the perpetrators. (Luel Galarpe/PNA)
