CIDG nabs village chief, 3 others in separate manhunt ops

MANILA — Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) have arrested the incumbent chairperson of Barangay Lanauan in Pastrana, Leyte and three others for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition during separate operations.

In a report submitted to CIDG head Police Director Roel B. Obusan, CIDG units arrested village chair Rogelio Empillo during the implementation of a search warrant on Monday night.

Seized from the suspect were a caliber 9-mm, 3 magazines and 30 ammunition.

Empillo now faces a case for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Law.

Meanwhile, the CIDG also arrested in separate operations on Monday three individuals on the Most Wanted Persons (MWPs) list, namely, Eddie Reodigue a.k.a. “EJ” or “Aki”, Silver Villariza , and Jeffrey Mangila.

Reodigue, listed as the No. 1 MWP in Biñan City, Laguna, was arrested at around 4:40 p.m. in Barangay San Cristobal, Calamba City for murder.

Villariza, the No. 6 MWP in New Washington, Aklan, was apprehended at about 6:15 PM in Barangay Andagao, Kalibo, Aklan for an outstanding warrant for violation of RA 6539 (Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972).

Meanwhile, Mangila was nabbed around 6:46 p.m. in West Poblacion, Upper Ecology, Naga City, Cebu.

He was listed as the No. 10 MWP in the town for the crime of theft.
