CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The crime volume in Central Luzon went down by almost 24 percent in the last quarter of 2017 as a result of the intensified implementation of anti-criminality measures in the region.
Based on the latest data from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD), there was a total of 13,707 crime incidents recorded from September to December last year, which is 4,322 cases or 23.97% lower compared to the 18,029 recorded in the same period of 2016.
Police Regional Office-3 Director, Chief Supt. Amador V. Corpus, on Monday said the significant decrease in crimes can be attributed to the leveling up of their anti-criminality measures particularly on their campaign against motorcycle-riding suspects and wanted persons.
“We are doubling our efforts to work round-the-clock in order to guarantee the public of a safe and sound sleep keeping our eyes always open against lawless elements and their activities,” Corpus said.
He vowed to keep on tracking down violators of the law especially the motorcycle-riding suspects.
“We are also back on track in our campaign against illegal drugs, expect series of anti-drug operations in the coming days. Time and again, I always say that crime prevention is a 24-hour task and is a serious business to be handled by us in the Philippine National Police,” he said.
Corpus asked the support of the public to help them by actively participating in their anti-criminality campaigns through immediate reporting of crimes and information of any illegal activities. (PNA)
