Checkpoint soldier being considered as PUM

Philippine Army Chief Lieutenant General Gilbert Gapay has confirmed that a soldier is being considered as a person under monitoring (PUM).

The PUM had a fever after manning a checkpoint in the Northern part of Metro Manila.

According to PA Chief Lt. Gen. Gapay, they have pulled the soldier out of duty and is currently being monitored.

The Philippine Army has ensured that its priority includes the safety of the soldiers and it is equipped to decontaminate PA personnel.

The PA is scheduled to pull out troops from the checkpoints this week to avoid extensive exposure to the virus and will have them undergo a 14-day quarantine.

PA Chief Lt. Gen. Gapay has stated that their camps are prepared to be quarantine sites and the isolation rooms in their hospitals are ready when needed. One of the facilities is Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has also assured that police officers manning the checkpoints are being taken care of.

According to Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar, they conduct regular check-ups of the health condition of police officers since they also have families to protect from the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
