Chinese tourist dies in El Nido

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan — A female Chinese tourist drowned and died at Nacpan Beach, El Nido, around Thursday noon, a police official in the town said.

She was identified by Senior Inspector Thirz Starky Timbancaya of the El Nido Municipal Police Station (MPS) as 48-year-old Sun Xuiyan, widow, and a nutritionist of Chongqing, a major city of southwest China.

Sun died after drowning at Nacpan Beach, a frequented shoreline spot at Sitio Calitang, Barangay Bucana.

She was a guest of Just Inn lodging house in Barangay Maligaya, also in El Nido.

El Nido Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) chief, Raymund Osorio, told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) they tried to revive Sun, but failed.

“Sa kasamaang palad ay namatay nga itong female tourist sa Nacpan Beach habang naliligo. Sinubukan namin siyang i-revive pero no sign of life na talaga yong vitals niya (Unfortunately, the female tourist died in Nacpan Beach while swimming. We did everything we could to revive her, but her vitals did not indicate any sign of life),” Osorio said. (Celeste Anna Formoso/PNA)
