City of San Fernando kicks off Children’s Month celebration

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — To further promote and protect the rights of children, the City Government of San Fernando through its Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC), kicked off on Monday its celebration of Children’s Month 2017.

Mayor Edwin Santiago led the unveiling of calendar of activities anchored on the theme “Bata’yArugain, KarapatanPangalagaan at Pagyamanin tungo sa Kinabukasang Maningning.”

In a press conference, Santiago said various activities are lined up to mold the children’s physical, emotional and intellectual well-being.

He also stressed that every child deserves to receive adequate care and to grow up in a protective environment.

“Like the Parul Fernandino, we also want to make colorful and bright the future of our children. Thus, here in the City of San Fernando, we are continuously doing programs that aim to provide care to our Fernandino children,” the mayor said.

Santiago also said that the children today play an integral part in the New San Fernando concept.

“Our children today will give light and hope in creating a new San Fernando. Time will come that they will be the ones who will continue what we have started,” he added.

The activities include Child and Youth Leaders’ Camp on November 17 and LakbayBulilit, wherein children may enjoy exploring the city’s heritage places on November 18.

Members of the LCPC will undergo training at Vista Tala Resort and Recreational Park, Orani Bataan from November 21- 22 to enhance their management and leadership capacities.

A Camp Bulilit will be held at the National Child Development Center and Day Care Centers in Sindalan from November 23-24.

To culminate the month-long celebration, Mayor Santiago will deliver his State of the Children’s Report during the Children’s Congress on November 28 at the Benigno Hall Capitol.

There will be a child-friendly barangay governance awarding ceremony on the same day. (PNA)
