Classes formally opens on August 24

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has approved the recommendation of the Department of Education (DepEd) to formally open school year 2020-2021 on August 24.

DepEd has allowed several private schools that have initially expressed preparedness to start classes next month as long as they will pass a learning continuity plan and documentation to their regional superintendent showing they are ready for online learning.

DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones has stated that no face-to-face classes shall occur before August 24. The situation of the area will determine if they are ready for face-to-face learning.

Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar has said that the state television and radio will also be used as learning medium aside from online learning.

The education department is also preparing the learning packets for students without any gadgets, TV, or radio.

The DepEd has assured that they are doing everything so no student will be left out as they push for quality education. – Report from Mica Joson
