Cloudy skies, rains expected in parts of PH due to ‘amihan’

MANILA – Cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over parts of the country due to shear line and northeast monsoon (amihan), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday, Jan. 16.

In its weather bulletin, it said Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to shear line.

It warned residents in affected areas against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the Cagayan Valley and Bicol Regions, and the provinces of Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Aurora, and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.

Moderate to strong winds moving northeast will be experienced in the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao with moderate to strong coastal waters.

The rest of the country will also experience moderate to strong with moderate to strong coastal waters.

The minimum temperature is 21.3 °C and the maximum temperature is 28.4 °C. (PNA) – bny
