COCs for 2019 polls now downloadable at Comelec website

MANILA — Those who are running in the May 2019 midterm elections may secure copies of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) by downloading them from the website of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said Tuesday that aspirants in the forthcoming polls can download the forms from its official website http://www.comelec.gov.ph/?r=2019NLE/COC.

“The soft copy of all the forms (is) already available in our website. They can easily download them,” Jimenez said in an interview.

The five-day COC filing period will be on Oct. 11-12 and Oct. 15-17.

The poll body official noted that securing forms early would also help candidates avoid committing errors in filling the form.

Forms available for download are COCs for senator, member of the House of Representatives, regional governor, regional vice-governor, member of the Regional Legislative Assembly, provincial governor, provincial vice-governor, member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board), mayor, vice-mayor, member of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Council), and member of the Sangguniang Bayan (Municipal Council).

The Certificate of Nomination, Certificate of Acceptance of Nomination, Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance, Authority to File Certificate of Candidacy, and Statement of Withdrawal are likewise available for download.

Local Comelec offices also have hard copies of the COCs, which can be photocopied and is free of charge.

The law requires those who will run for an elected position to accomplish a sworn COC. (Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
