Comelec-9 exec calls on public to register

ZAMBOANGA CITY–The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is conducting general registration of voters in preparation for the mid-term elections in May 2019.

Lawyer Wilfred Jay Balisado, Comelec Region 9 director, said the voters’ registration is scheduled from July 2 to September 29, 2018.

“I call on those qualified to register so that they can exercise their right of suffrage,” Balisado said.

Balisado said those who want to register must bring proof of identity such as birth certificate and identification cards.

Balisado said qualified to register are individuals 18 years old and above, as well as those who will turn 18 before the 2019 mid-term elections.

He said they will also accommodate transfer of registration, correction of entry on registration record, and reactivation of registration record.

The registration will be held at the Comelec office in the locality from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, including holidays.

Satellite registration will also be conducted in the barangays. Those with high number of population will be made priority. (R. G. Antonet Go/PNA)
