Comelec completes canvassing, set to proclaim winners on Wednesday

MANILA — Eight days after convening as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has finished late Tuesday the canvassing of 167 Certificates of Canvass (COCs) in the just-concluded May 13 National and Local Elections (NLE).

The NBOC is set to proclaim the 12 winning senators at 10 a.m. Wednesday, while the party-list representatives will be proclaimed later in the evening.

Reelectionist Senator Cynthia Villar tops the senatorial race with 25,256,661 votes.

She is closely followed by another reelectionist, Senator Grace Poe-Llamanzares, with 22,011,745. Incoming neophyte senator, former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, is in third place with 20,622,925 votes.

In fourth place is comebacking senator and Taguig City Rep. Pilar Juliana “Pia” Cayetano who garnered 19,762,584 votes. Another neophyte senator is former Philippine National Police chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa in fifth place with 18,968,664.

In sixth place is reelectionist Sen. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara with (18,142,536).

Completing the Top 12 are: former Senator and movie/television actor Manuel “Lito” Lapid (16,954,677); former Ilocos Norte Governor Maria Imelda Josefa “Imee” Marcos (15,851,910); former Metro Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino (15,482,069); reelectionist Senator Aquilino Martin “Koko” Pimentel III (14,646,191); former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. (14,617,607) ; and reelectionist Senator Maria Lourdes “Nancy” Binay (14,496,350).

For party-list represenatives, those in the top spots are ACT-CIS (2,645,355); BAYAN MUNA (1,116,373); AKO BICOL (1,048,402); CIBAC (928,749,); ANG PROBINSYANO (770,166); 1 PACMAN (713,207); MARINO (681,335); PROBINSYANO AKO (630,365); SENIOR CITIZENS (516,221); and MAGSASAKA (495,670).
