Comelec to hold voters registration in Miriam, St. Theresa’s colleges

MANILA — There will be a voters registration at Miriam College and St. Theresa’s College in Quezon City on Thursday as part of the campaign of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to encourage women to participate in the country’s elections.

Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, head of the Comelec – Gender and Development (GAD), announced that voters registration will held in two Quezon City-based schools, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

“Voters registration tomorrow (Aug. 16) at 8:30 a.m. in Miriam College; 2 p.m. in St. Theresa’s College QC,” Guanzon tweeted in her Twitter account, @commrguanzon.

She said such events will also be held in other schools across the country.

“Satellite registration in colleges for girls will be done nationwide as Comelec’s Gender and Development project,” she said.

Aside from the two Quezon City schools, Guanzon mentioned St. Scholastica’s College and St. Paul’s College as among the possible venues for the registration activity.

Comelec – Election and Barangay Affairs Department data showed there are already 1,260,341 female applicants for voter registration since July 2.

The system of continuing registration of voters resumed last July 2 and will run until September 29. (Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
