The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is reminding local candidates to abide by the campaign rules and regulations to prevent disqualification.

Lawyer Jan Christian Babiera, second district election officer, issued the reminder as the campaign period for the local candidates is set to start Friday, March 29. Campaign period ends on May 11.

Babiera said campaign posters must not be oversized and should only be two-feet-by-three feet. These must be placed only in designated poster areas.

Babiera said the designated poster area in his district is in front of the Integrated Bus terminal (IBT) while for the first district is at the rotunda at the intersection of Gov. Camins Avenue and boundaries of Barangays Canelar and Sta. Maria.

He said posters may also be placed in private properties with the consent of the owners.

He said it is strictly prohibited to put campaign posters in public areas such as schools and markets, electric posts, waiting sheds, and trees.

He said it is also prohibited to campaign on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

He said campaign materials not in accordance with the allowed size will be removed by Comelec personnel.
